Festival Introduction

2026 OMNI × 宁波青年AI电影节是一项面向全球电影创作者的国际影展项目，聚焦将生成式AI融入电影创作实践的作品。

电影节由 OMNI国际人工智能电影节、宁波市短片协会与宁波诺丁汉大学联合呈现，汇聚来自世界各地的创作者，关注具有原创表达、鲜明作者意识，以及善于运用生成式AI进行创作的电影作品。

本届电影节面向全球征集作品。除正式展映外，项目还将举办高校展映、公开分享、行业对话及教育活动，推动电影创作、学术研究与技术创新之间的交流与合作。

生成式AI正在为电影创作者打开新的创作空间。我们关注的是创作者如何将这些可能性转化为真正具有表达力与艺术价值的电影作品。

The 2026 OMNI × Ningbo Youth AI Film Festival is an international programme dedicated to filmmakers working with generative AI as part of their creative practice.

Presented through a partnership between the OMNI International AI Film Festival, the Ningbo Short Film Association, and the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC), the festival brings together creators whose work reflects originality, authorship and a considered use of emerging technologies.

The programme welcomes submissions from around the world. Alongside screenings, it includes university exhibitions, public presentations, industry dialogue and educational initiatives that encourage collaboration across creative disciplines, research and technology.

Generative AI has opened new possibilities for filmmakers. This festival is interested in how those possibilities are translated into meaningful cinema.

AI Filmmaking - The skills you already have are the foundations of AI visualization and storytelling.

OMNI Masters was a single-day intensive workshop designed for the curious. Beginner to Intermediate creative professionals, artists, filmmakers and brand practitioners who want to understand the current changes in generative film. Held in conjunction with OMNI 1.5 HYPERPHANTASIA, and presented in partnership with Envato, this was a working day with Advanced/ Expert and Award-Winning practitioners who are actually creating and sharing stories with these tools.

Envato Elements ran through the entire day as the creative platform. Envato's fully licensed and royalty-free generative tools allow participants to use music, sound design, motion references, and asset libraries as the starting point for every production decision. Every attendee was given deep access to the Envato platform, anchoring every exercise and every creative choice made during the day, and then available for progression with three months of Envato Ultimate access.

Three internationally recognised AI filmmaking practitioners delivered four sessions across the day. The workshop closed with a participant showcase where work developed during the day is shared, screened and discussed.

Attendees left with a well-rounded set of new skills and approaches to Generative filmmaking, build concepts from scratch during the sessions, grounded in Envato Elements assets, take them into production and beyond after the workshop.

Aunique screening of the recent AI films showcased in Shanghai of the OMNI AI 感動 Emotion Program.

This 50min screening was followed by an expert panel exploring the rapid changes in AI Video and it’s affects on the cinema and film production world.

The Poetry of AI 感動 Emotion

As part of our “AI Frontier” theme for April, we were excited to screen six pioneering short films — all created with AI — that made audiences question whether it now possesses emotional intelligence. To bring this all together, we partnered with leaders in filmmaking and artificial intelligence from both Shanghai and Hong Kong. Hosted and organised by OMNI jury member and Sundance-recognized filmmaker Ai Wan.

In addition to the hour-long screening, we hosted a panel featuring some of the filmmakers alongside our partners to discuss how AI can serve as a creative tool to deepen and expand the poetry of emotion in visual storytelling.

To top it off, guests enjoyed a special selection of natural wines from China, thanks to the young team at Purple Rain (@purple.rain.wine) — an independent merchant focusing on small-production, low-intervention wines — alongside small bites courtesy of PREFACE, our incredible venue host.

Whether attendees were fans of AI or not, these films proved well worth watching. They were as riveting in their storytelling as they were groundbreaking in how they were made. This was truly the frontier of AI in entertainment, and we were thrilled to share it.

A very special screening on the back of tiny pickup truck and in an alleyway in the center of Sydney. Hosted by Michael Edo-Keane and included special appearances by a Garbage Truck a food delivery scooter and several bicycles.
It was an incredible evening of dialogue.

Können originelle Ideen überhaupt entstehen, wenn sie auf gestohlenen Datensätzen basieren? Haben Filmschaffende nicht immer schon eine Vorreiterrolle übernommen, wenn es um neue Technologien geht? Darf man KI-Content eine Plattform bieten, oder sollte das alles verboten werden? Ich bin überzeugt, dass wir als Filmfestival die Aufgabe haben, diese Fragen aufzuwerfen, während wir alle die Pflicht haben, uns damit auseinanderzusetzen.
