The Poetry of AI 感動 Emotion

April 29, 2026

Hong Kong, China

As part of our “AI Frontier” theme for April, we were excited to screen six pioneering short films — all created with AI — that made audiences question whether it now possesses emotional intelligence. To bring this all together, we partnered with leaders in filmmaking and artificial intelligence from both Shanghai and Hong Kong. Hosted and organised by OMNI jury member and Sundance-recognized filmmaker Ai Wan.

In addition to the hour-long screening, we hosted a panel featuring some of the filmmakers alongside our partners to discuss how AI can serve as a creative tool to deepen and expand the poetry of emotion in visual storytelling.

To top it off, guests enjoyed a special selection of natural wines from China, thanks to the young team at Purple Rain (@purple.rain.wine) — an independent merchant focusing on small-production, low-intervention wines — alongside small bites courtesy of PREFACE, our incredible venue host.

Whether attendees were fans of AI or not, these films proved well worth watching. They were as riveting in their storytelling as they were groundbreaking in how they were made. This was truly the frontier of AI in entertainment, and we were thrilled to share it.

‍«OMNI International AI Film Festival is a global platform dedicated to showcasing the most compelling work emerging from generative cinema, sound, and machine-driven storytelling. Featuring works by new and established filmmakers, audiences can see the compelling and fantastic in this one hour Showcase featuring filmmakers from around the world working at the edge of visualization. As artificial intelligence rapidly reshapes how images are created and narratives are constructed, OMNI brings audiences into direct contact with the artists and dialogue defining this fast-evolving cultural frontier.» ‍

Eure Meinung interessiert uns! Michel Frutig | Festivalleiter
